The service at The Royal Scam restaurant is over the top. Kara treated us like we were the only patrons, and took our order in a friendly and conversational way; I was actually amazed how she remembered it all. She cheerfully stayed late because we arrived into town near closing time. I had the boudin balls, the Scam (tenderloin) Sandwich, a Deacon Blue, and a chocolate creme brulee. Anyone who has never had chocolate creme brulee is truly an unfortunate soul. The Royal Scam sets the bar quite high on this dessert. The sandwich was also delicious. The meat was so tender and savory. It seems silly to rate french fries considering how fancy the food is at The Royal Scam, but they are top notch. And yes, the restaurant and Deacon Blue cocktail names were inspired by the Steely Dan songs.
